Indonesia and France have enjoyed diplomatic relations for over seven decades since 1947. Recently, French President Emmanuel Macron was warmly welcomed in Jakarta by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto. The grand state welcome took place at the Merdeka Palace, where approximately 3,000 students from elementary to high school levels dressed neatly and waved the flags of both countries. The motorcade carrying President Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron arrived at the palace from Monas, escorted under tight security, creating a ceremonial atmosphere.
Upon President Macron’s arrival at Merdeka Palace, he greeted the students warmly and was officially welcomed by President Prabowo Subianto. The two leaders walked together to the ceremonial grounds, accompanied by the national anthems of Indonesia and France and a 21-gun salute as a formal tribute. Minister from the Red and White Cabinet and Prabowo’s son, Ragowo Hediprasetyo, were also present at the ceremony, along with Macron’s visit to the Military Academy in Magelang and the Borobudur Temple, highlighting the shared cultural and educational values between the two countries.
Following the grand welcome ceremony, President Macron and President Prabowo held a closed-door bilateral meeting to discuss various strategic partnerships, further solidifying the ties between Indonesia and France. This visit signifies a deepening of the relationship between the two nations, showcasing the strong bond between Indonesia and France.
